I was Mr. Higgins house call doctor seeing him the past four years at his home in Highlands, NJ. Despite illness, he moved forward each day with strength & courage unlike anyone I have seen in 15 years in practice. My sincere condolences to his family. I will miss him dearly.

Higgins Family:
Sorry to hear of Bill's passing, I thought he would always be around!
I knew your father (son, husband) as a
young man and I have never forgotten him.

Bill was my neighbor and was always looking out for me. He'd bring me the newpaper, and was very good - amazing, actually - at the Tribune crossword puzzle. In the morning when we'd pass by I'd ask how he was and he's say, "I'm alive today." Or "I'm still breathing", or some wry Irish comment to that effect.
I am shocked to hear of his passing - as I thought he wasn't around because he had gone on a trip. I am grateful for kindness he showed me in his life. I will miss him. My condolences to his family.

I was lucky enough to have Billy as a partner for a short time in the mid eighties. He was the best Policeman I ever worked with and a true and faithful friend. I will miss him

Dear Higgins Family,
I was lucky enough to get to know Billy very well. He has had an immense impact upon my life. I will always remember him for his generosity, companionship, sharp wit, and fierce loyalty. They are qualities we can only attempt to emulate. His friendship and stories I will always hold near to my heart.

Dear Higgins Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Higgy for many years first through the police department and then as a friend. I will miss his wicked sense of humor and wonderful stories. He was a great man who loved his family so very much. May flights of angels wing him to his rest.

I will miss my friend Billy. My thoughts and prayrs go with his family.
Billy Higgins had the heart of a warrior and the soul of a poet. He was a Policeman - an Area 2 Homicide Detective - and a true civil servant. Shortly upon his retirement, Billy's great heart went quiet and his soul returned to Christ.
Billy Higgins died reading at his kitchen table, but had lived kicking down doors behind which armed enemies of civilization cowered from the Truth. They were our monsters - murderers. Billy and his partner Marty Tully brought these cowards to face the laws they violated - if not to Justice.

To the Higgins Family;
I was saddened to learn of Bill's death. We had worked together in Gresham and Area 2. He was the embodiment of what a good cop should be-loyal, good natured, stern, kind, comedic, and dedicated not only to the job but first and foremost to his family and friends. We have lost a damn fine man. Your loss is shared by those of us who had earned the right to call him friend.

Dear Higgins Family,
I've known Bill many years since my time as a detective in the old Area Three and Bill's years in Englewood. He and I worked in Area Two when he became a detective and I came there as a sergeant. I wanted to offer my sincerest condolences since I am out of town and will not be able to pay my respects in person. God bless all of you and in particular, Bill.

Shirley,Pat,Colleen,Patrick,Brian & Noreen:
I was so sorry to hear from Shirley about Billy's passing. The Daltons have fond memories of the Higgins having lived 3 doors North of them on Kostner. Billy was always fun to have over and shared some great stories too. He and Jim enjoyed a few beers here and there out in the back yards sitting at ours or their picnic bench. Hot days were better because of the Higgins welcoming back yard and nice big swimming pool. We all know he is in a better place now but it is very hard getting to that realization. Like Sarge, Billy had a beautiful smile and great sense of humor.
My sincere sympathies to each of you as you grieve the loss of your son, brother and father.
