Dr. Cahill saved everybody in my family, relatives from Italy and Brazil. He was compassionate and a competent Doctor and Surgeon. He was truly blessed by the Lord and he is deserving of peace. May his family be blessed.

My deepest sympathies to the Cahill family. Dr Cahill treated my husband (Bud Weldon) for many years until his passing in 1973. He diagnosed his illness when symptoms were so obscure. He always made himself available when needed. He was a caring doctor and a compassionate friend to my husband that will always be appreciated. May he rest in peace.

My mother, sister.and I adored Dr.Cahill. He saved each of our lives multiple times. This past week, my mother required hospitalization, and Saint Joseph Hospital is not the same without Dr.Cahill. After so many years,I kept expecting him to see him walking down the hallway or entering the hospital room with his familiar handshake and greeting. As it was said during his funeral mass, he was a small town doctor in a big city which is a rarity. Dr.Cahill was an extremely rare treasure and genius. Deepest sympathy to the entire Cahill family.

My condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the family of Dr Cahill. I met him when I worked in the admitting office at Columbus Hospital starting in 1965. He was a kind, considerate and passionate person about his work. I never forgot him and the time he would spend to answer even the simpliest question.
Sincerely,

My condolences to the Cahill family. Dr. Cahill was my surgeon when I was a 4-week old infant and my family has always held a special place in their hearts for him . I never had the honor of meeting Dr. Cahill as an adult. However, his words from almost 40 years ago still bring a smile to our faces...after my surgery, Dr. Cahill reassured my parents that infants with my condition grow up to be very bright. I think Dr. Cahill was on to something since I went on to earn a doctorate and highly value education and learning :) A fine doctor who gave me the gift of health and gave my family the gift of comfort. Rest in peace, Dr. Cahill.

Dr. Cahill saved my mother's life. When all the other doctors had given up on her Dr. Cahill stepped up and made it all right. He was a brilliant doctor and one of the bravest men I've ever met. His strength made us stronger and after talking with him for two minutes we knew everything would be right. Thank you Dr. Cahill and God bless you. My thanks to Dr. Cahill's family for helping him to help so many others and my deepest sympathy to all.

I am so saddened to know that Uncle Bill is gone. He always made time for what must have seemed like an endless stream of medical issues from nieces and nephews, and I always admired him for that. I also recall his face at my own Dad's gravesight, and how at Ginny's funeral we agreed that these darn funerals never seem to get any easier! He was the last of his siblings, and I can almost hear him and my own Dad saying "the last of the Mohicans!" I never got a chance to really sit down and have a long chat with him, even tho we discussed the possibility, and am saddened to know I never will be able to do so, and learn more from him about all sorts of things. Maybe I would have started by asking him why he and my Dad started calling me Oscar Bologna Sausage! Ah well....I hope I get to ask him in another life.
My sincere condolences to Paula and to all his children on this most difficult of losses.

The first time I met Dr. Cahill, he bought me a Bombay and tonic. Not just for me, of course, but a round for everyone who was even within earshot. I only knew him through my partner's work with him at STJH, but I was fond of him because of the equal treatment he gave to all whom crossed his path.
He seemed to me to be one of those special human beings that understood he too was human, not one whom considered himself above others. He will be missed, both inside the O.R. and in the rest of the world. Rest in peace, fine sir.

My fondest memory was when Bill sang "Danny Boy" at his turn of the century party. It was well after midnight and I'm not sure if the piano player or Bill couldn't remember the song at that point. But Bill's commentary with the piano player sure was funny.
My sincere sympathy goes out to his wife Paula and to all the Cahill cousins. He will be missed him terribly.

While I have a lifetime of memories of my cousin, Billy, one of the most lasting was at his son Mathew's wedding to Michele. While toasting the bride and groom he spoke lovingly of how happy his life with Paula had been, and what a blessed life he had been privileged to live. My sincere sympathy goes out to his wife and his many offspring. We will all miss him terribly.

It was an honor and privilege to be on a surgical team with a physician who cared for his patients so much and had such an abundant sense of responsibility and duty to his patients that he exuded the command as the skipper of a ship. The loss I feel of loosing Dr. Cahill is the loss of decades of medical, surgical experience, and critical thinking skills. Your rest is vastly deserved. Paula and your family are in my prayers.
