I want to express my deepest sympathies to Bill's family, and apologize for not being at his funeral. I had a family emergency and had to be in Georgia last week-end.
I'm so glad that Kathy Kearney and I were able to spend time with Bill recently and to see that he was as lively and smart as ever. He was so well taken care of and so happy living in Glenview with all of you coming & going when he could no longer be alone.
As president of the Chicago Walkers I also want to tell you how much he meant to all of us who knew him well and how much he brought to our group. We have missed him since he's been unable to come out and will remember him always with love and affection.

I'm so sorry about your Dad and that I'm unable to be at the visitation tomorrow afternoon. Message: Bill had a distictive yet somewhat raspy voice. My fondest memory was carrying his heavy legal satchel from his office to the Federal Court Building all the while giving Bill voice lessons to protect his throat during court sessions. I must be one of a thousand fans of his. My deepest condolances to his family.

To Bill's family: I am very sorry for your loss of an extraordinary man. I met Bill nearly 30 yrs. when we were learning how to sea kayake in Lake Michigan. Despite our age difference of 39 yrs. we enjoyed each other's company. Bill invited me to Rotary Club luncheons and I invited him to the Adventurers Club. Bill introduced me to race walking. He was better at it than me. Bill and I toasted in the New Year with a hot cup of Wassail...I will always cherish that day. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

To the Love ones of Mr. Barnett,
My deepest sorrows goes out to you. I too lost my father which is something hard to deal with, but I found comfort in knowing that I was not alone, 2Corinthains 1:3 says that God is the God of all comfort. So you can also look to him to find the comfort that you may need at this time.
Sincerely Ms. Howard

My Dear Cousins, Time for us to take this road again. My deepest sympathy on the loss of Uncle Bill. He will be dearly missed. Once again he is together with his sisters and loved ones, yelling, arguing and of course laughing. It must be quite the party. Upon WAB's arrival, I wonder if St Peter turned to A. Mae and Lucille and said "Now we'll hear something interesting." My love and thoughts to each of you. Brigid

To the family of William Barnett. Please accept our sincere condolences. We hope you find comfort in Isaiah 57:15 where God promises that "I reside, also with the one crushed and lowly in spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly ones and to revive the heart of the ones being crushed."
