Wayne was one of the greatest, a key figure in making JWT Chicago the best advertising agency of all. We'll miss him, but his influence will continue through his legacy: training and developing people. Our prayers go with him on his final journey.

Dear Joan and the Fickinger Family,
My heart goes out to you along with my prayers. Wayne was truly a great man and I couldn't have worked for a finer individual. His kindness, compassion and gentle approach was recognized by everyone at Bozell and he made it a pleasure to come to work each day, even on the days it appeared things may not have been going our way. Wayne provided me with a deep appreciation of what it means to be a gentleman and he will always hold a special place with me as someone I not only admire, but could only hope to be like.
Sincerely,

To Jan, my sister-in-law and all family members; So sorry to hear of Wayne's passing on Friday. He had a great sense of humor and, even though we didn't know him very well, we always enjoyed our brief visits with Joan and Wayne either at their lovely home or to a special event like the annual Independence Day festivities and fireworks. Dennis and I would have come in town to attend his funeral but we can't due to previous plans to be in McLean, VA and Washington, DC for Thanksgiving weekend leaving Wed morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad and difficult time. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by many because he was a great man.

Wayne was the perfect father-on-law to me and grandfather of my four children. Always supportive, generous and kind. And a fellow sports fan. We'll all miss you Wayne.

Dear Mrs Fickinger and family
Wayne was wonderful man. He truly made a difference in many people's lives. He personally made my career and saved my life as the young mother of a very sick child. When I came to JWalter Thompson from P&G as the first woman hired into account management, Wayne famously said to a distinguished group of JWT exces after my interviews, "Hire the girl -- How much damage can she do !" He said it with common sense and fondness -- and thus began my happy career at JWT and the foundation of my professional life. I thanked him many times and I hope I made him proud for the very real risk he took at the time. When my second daughter was born with a terrible illness he was a great comfort and support who allowed me to keep working to care for my family but still be a the hospital when ever I needed to be . I thanked him many times for his guidance and his kindness. He knew how much I appreciated him and loved him. I will miss him deeply as I know you will. But weren't we luck to have him in our lives. I try to repay his gift by doing for other young people what he did for me. God bless and keep him and your family
Sincerely
Elizabeth Harrington
