Walter Torkel Obituary
Torkel, Walter J. age 85, WWII Army Veteran, dearly beloved husband of 56 years of Cleo (nee Mallady), loving father of James (Kathy), William (Lisa) and Dale (Tina), devoted grandfather of Jaclyn, Carly, Holly, Keri, and Jason, great-grandfather of Andrew, Lyric, and Jacek, fond brother of the late Emily (Robert) Super, Frank (Mary), John (Katherine), and Stanley (Theresa) Zabawa, uncle of many nieces and nephews. Walter was a chef at the Sherman Oaks Hotel in Chicago, IL and an auto mechanic at Sears until his retirement in 1987. He was a devoted Deacon since 1974 at the Downers Grove 7th Day Adventist Church and was baptized on December 11, 1976. Visitation Monday, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue (two miles west of 79th and Harlem), Justice, IL, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Bethania Cemetery, Justice, IL.
