I remember mixing drinks in Uncle Walts and Aunt Jeans basement on the 4th of July with my brother, sisters and cousins when we were young. We came up with some pretty nasty concoctions but Uncle Walt smiled, drank our disasters and then tipped us well!!!

It was one of the best vacations we had in chicago!

We miss those visits to the Oswald home at Christmas and think of his song every year. Wally always had a pocket full of treats for the kids and that camera ready. Our loss, heaven's gain.

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of Walter, our friend and alumnus from the Class of 1937. Walter was by no means a stranger to his alma mater, De La Salle Institute. We are grateful for his lifelong commitment to our students and our mission. His caring and kindness will not be forgotten. He will be remembered in our daily thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Wally always held a special place in the hearts of the Stenquist kids. When we were knee-high rug rats, Wally would pull up at our house on Dorchester in his 1950 Plymouth, and we'd jump for joy. We knew we were in for a day of fun: flying kites at Avalon Park, playing catch in the yard, or -- best of all -- sitting behind the wheel of Wally's car. He was a great and good man and will be missed very much by very many.

Dear Jean,

My husband and I are in the south for several months this winter and going through the Tribune Obituaries this morning I was sorry to read Harold's name. I know that he had been ill for sometime and that you spent much time taking care of him. Please accept my sympathy.
