Baran, Walter S. age 94, at rest March 15, 2010, beloved son of the late Michael and the late Angeline (nee Sajdak), fond brother of Michaline (the late Sylvester) Chrabot, Irene (the late Frank) Novacek, the late Charles (the late Blanche) Baran, the late Stella, and the later Bernice (the late Joseph) Block. During WWII, Mr. Baran proudly served in the United States Army in Europe. In 1945, Mr. Baran and his unit participated in the liberation of the concentration camp in Dachau, Germany. After the war, Mr. Baran was a long time employee of the City of Chicago. "Uncle Walter", has many nieces and nephews as well as grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester (2 blks. W. of Mannheim Rd.) on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday, March 18 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Divine Infant Church for a 10 a.m. Mass.
