Virginia McCarthy Obituary

Virginia (Rano) McCarthy of Middleboro, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died Jan. 5. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. McCarthy; loving mother of Judith and her husband George Rolt of Middleboro, Patricia and her husband Richard Emanuel and William and his companion Anne Beauregard, all of Brockton, and the late Nancy Wood, wife of James Wood, BPD of Florida. Also survived by 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren. She was grandmother of the late William Brandt. She was a retired employee of Gillette Corp. for over 25 years and a member of Boylston Congregational Church for over 50 years. Donations in her memory may be made to the Special Olympics of Indian River County, FL, or to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368. Funeral services will be held at the Boylston Congregational Church, corner of Boylston and Amory streets, Jamaica Plain, Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins St. (corner of South Huntington Ave.), Jamaica Plain, Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Cremation to follow. Guest book at mannandrodgers.com.

Virginia will be missed , she was very sharp and quick with the meaning of all our jokes. We will miss our bingo buddy and avid Red Sox fan.

Don and i loved your feisty mother. We loved talking to her and of course about the Red Sox. Unfortunately, i have now come down with the dreaded flu so i will not be able to attend the services. You are all in my prayers.
