Mackey, Virginia Marie

Virginia Marie Mackey, 87, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Born in Rensselaer, IN, on August 12, 1937, to Joseph and Mildred Brown, Virginia spent her formative years on the family farm, surrounded by the love of her six siblings. In 1956, Virginia married Joseph Mackey. Virginia dedicated herself to raising their four children-Catherine, Patricia, Joseph (Kate), and Mary-with unwavering devotion and boundless affection. Devoted grandmother to Joseph, Michael, Bridget, Timothy, Melissa, Dever, Terrance, and Meghan; and great grandmother of Rosie, Colleen and Ember.

Visitation Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero, Chicago, IL 60646. Mass Friday, September 20, 2024 at St. Ita Catholic Church, 5500 N Broadway. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Virginia's name may be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Virginia and my late grandmother Donna were best friends for many years. I know grandma will be the first of many up there to receive Virginia with open arms. To Virginia´s family and friends, I wish for all the best during this sad time.
