Virginia Lydon Obituary

Lydon, Virginia F. 81, of 3300 N. 900 E., Grovertown, IN, passed away Friday, in her home after an illness. Mrs. Lydon was born February 24, 1920, in Altoona, PA, to Daniel and Rose (Fusco) LaRotonda and lived in Grovertown for 17 years, coming from, Chicago. On February 24, 1946, in Blue Island, IL, she was married to James P. Lydon. He survives along with one daughter, Bridget Lyon (John) Strejc of Berwyn, IL; one son, Larry (Doris) of Grant Park, IL; two grandsons, John and James Strejc, that were the light of her life of Berwyn, IL, several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Lydon was a beautician and homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Hamlet, IN. During WWII she worked at Kingsbury Ordinance Plant supporting overseas work efforts, she was a cook extrordinaire, and loved bingo, fishing, was an avid reader and was a very loving person and a friend to all. Funeral services will be Monday, at 10 a.m., at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet, IN, with Rev. Father Anthony Spanley officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 9 p.m. at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and Monday, 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet, IN.
