Vincenzo Rendina Obituary

Rendina, Vincenzo

Vincenzo Rendina, 68, passed away January 18, 2021. Loving and devoted husband to the late Anna Luisa (nee Pontarelli) and dedicated father to Elisa (Martin) Schliep, Michael (Meredith) Rendina, Teresa (Thomas) Dunaway and Diana (Vito) Radosta. Nonno and hero to his ten grandchildren Martin, Vincenzo, Benjamin, Ava Anna, Antonio, Anna Ella, Patrick Vince, Nico, Matthew and "Baby" Vincenzo. Dedicated son to the late Matteo and Maria (nee Guida) and son-in-law to the Late Vincenzo Pontarelli and Emilia (nee Neri). Loyal brother of the late Michele (the late Lucile), the late Antonio (Maria), the late Giovanni (Maureen), the late Bruno, the late Giuseppe, Teresa (the late Michele) L'Altrella, Bruno (Laura), Lucia (Bartolomeo) Cancelliere, Anna (Paolo) Grassi; Brother-in-law to Antonio (Cindy) Pontarelli and Maria (Vito) Dalmazio. Steadfast and caring Uncle to Michael, Alex, Anthony, Rosie, Matt, Giovanna, Elena, Felice, Bruno, Brian, Adriana, Giuseppe, Bruno, Matteo, Antonio, Maria, Josie, Jenny, the late Freddie, Desiree and Vincent. Farmer, wine maker, chef, heavy machine operator, successful business owner of Vian Construction, mentor and above all a man that embodied family to many. Vincenzo, or affectionately known as Vince', was born 1952 in Apricena, Italy. He lived and learned from the land. He cherished his home country and always spoke fondly of his brothers, sisters and loving parents. He came to this country in the 70s with hope for finding a better life for himself and the family he knew he would one day have. With the love and partnership of his late wife, Anna Luisa, that dream became a reality. A true renaissance man in an old-school sense, he lived his life to the fullest. There was never time for rest and nothing he could not teach him-self to do. Where there was a will, there was a way. Growing Mediterranean fruits and vegetables in the heart of Chicago, making wine the traditional Italian way, out-smarting and out-working men half his age with twice his education he found joy in it all. He was a boxer in his youth that ended up living his life in a weight class of his own. He will be missed but forever loved by his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Due to the current guidelines, the Visitation and Funeral Mass will be private. For those wishing to be a part of the funeral, you are invited to meet Monday Jan. 25th at 12:15 p.m. at St. Julian Eymard Church, 601 Biesterfield Rd, Elk Grove Village for a procession to All Saints Cemetery. Please remain in your cars until further directed. For info: 708-456-8300 or www.cumberlandchapels.com

Vince was a great friend. I met him while working for Bensenville. We fixed many water mains together . Vince was the most dependable man I know. He introduced me to his family and invited me to his home so many times . He loved his family and he spoke about them all the time. He will be missed but not forgotten Prayed to the entire family at this difficult time.
