My deepest condolences on hearing of the death of Aunt Vera. As godson to my Uncle Joe, her beloved spouse, I grew up very close to Aunt Vera. She lived for a time in the lower basement apartment, which my uncle Joe built especially for her.We frequently visited her and Uncle Joe as they moved from home to home.On 82nd and Elizabeth in Chicago, our family had daily interactions with Aunt Vera,Uncle Joe, Bonnie, and Johnnie. She always treated us with love and respect. She held a special love for my mother Mildred and vice versa. To my Mom's death at age 101 Aunt Vera was dedicated to her, early on taking her out to dinner, assisting with care as much as she could, and making encouraging phone calls. Her own medical problems interfered as time went by but she continued always to express her love and best wishes. We visited with her in Bourbonais last year and had a delightful time with her. She was the same Aunt Vera from giving us gentle teasing and kidding to occasionally a playful stern reproach. We laughed a lot and had a great visit. She tolerated a tough situation medically with little complaint. She seemed well liked by the nursing home staff. This was probably because while appreciating their care, she had no hesitancy to remind them with a smile or more if they fell below standard for her or her roommates. She seemed to know the administrators well. My brothers and I have many excellent memories of Aunt Vera and will always keep her memory fondly in our hearts.
