I think of Van often and all the plans we had. He was taken too soon. We know how to fight and Van fought hard to live in the face of crazy odds as we always did.

I knew Van since high school and shared a lot through the martial arts and life. We joined the navy together and found adventure. You never expect this to happen to your best friend. He fought long, often and well and he will be missed by all of pri-da-young-wa.

Van, you were truly one of my dearest friends. I had the opportunity to meet you and your wonderful family. I will miss the summer barbecues, the superbowl gumbo and our friendship. You were the one person that could talk about me and I would not get upset because that was just your way. Wenora, as you know, Van was a great guy and I was fortunate to have him as my friend. My prayers are with you and your family.
