Van Gunn Obituary



SUMNER, Ga. — Van Lee Gunn, 85, of Worth County, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. today, March 5, at Wright’s Chapel Church with the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Chapel Cemetery.

Born Sept. 14, 1922, in Bibb County, Ga., he was the son of the late John Henry Gunn and Lee Ola Corey Gunn. He was a farmer and retired from Merck Chemical in 1985. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family said he enjoyed his dogs and loved his grandchildren and all children.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Dean Wills Gunn of Sumner, Ga.; three sons, Bruce Gunn and wife Linda of Sumner, Ga., Kennyon Gunn and wife Linda of Doerun and Monty Gunn and his friend Gloria of Sumner, Ga.; a daughter, Debbie Gunn of Tifton, Ga.; a brother, Billy Lamon Gunn of Moultrie; six grandchildren, Kelly Marchant and husband Mike, Stacey Gunn and wife Nina, Leighann Paulk and husband Bryan, Corey Gunn, John Gunn and Tori Gunn; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla Marchant, Katie Marchant, Zane Gunn, Brandieh Gunn, Gracie Jo Gunn and Cody Slusher.

The family received friends Tuesday at Banks Funeral Home.
