Marion Goldman put me in touch with Tilly, Charlie and Sara Lee. I very much enjoyed my stay with the Lubins in spring 1979 in their Palm Springs home. I was especially attracted to Sara Lee and wondered since then if I should have asked her to go hiking and get to know her more. I again stayed with Tilly and Charlie a couple of times when passing through Palm Springs. Tilly was one of the very few who helped Marion move. Tilly was always a friendly woman with the heart of a small-town homebody - a quality apparently increasingly uncommon in today's highly technical and overorganized world.

I remember Aunt Tilly from when I was a child. She was a cousin of my father, Harold Gould. I was impressed by what a warm and very cool lady she was. My father, who has since passed away, was very fond of her also.

Although I had the opportunity to know Tillie only in her later years, I was always so impressed with her grace, warmth and sense of humor. Even under the most trying of circumstances, she was engaged with those around her and rarely, if ever, had a word of complaint. I shall miss her.

My, how time passes. Those who populated my childhood are gone. I accept that, because I still have those memories of good times. My aunt Anne and my mother Bess, sisters who were fortunate in loving Tillie, expressed that love to me. Their tribute endures, as does my own admiration for her kindness and generosity to them over the years. Thanks, Tillie, for being such a dear friend to those I loved.

Age is only a number. I will always treasure the friendship I had with Tillie, though there was a difference of 43 years between us.
Tillie always had a smile on her face. I learned so much just from talking to her - what an inspiration she was. I will miss her.
