Thomas Tivy Obituary

I have many fond memories of Father Thomas Tivy when he was in residence at the rectory of St. Hilary Church. He was popular with all of the students and maintained a full schedule at the church in addition to his working for the Archdiocese in the Chancery office. Later, he was made the pastor of Our Lady of Grace parish. "Well done, good and faithful servant..."

Please accept my prayers and condolences on the passing of your brother.

The Biggy/Tivy family were neighbors of my grandparents on Spaulding Avenue in Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Tom said my wedding Mass, then 25 years later....my son's wedding Mass. His mother, Mary , is waiting for him in Heaven. Blessings and Peace to Jerry.

A wonderful and kind man. May his family find & be comforted by the same peace he provided those of us he cared and served during our times of need. His memory will always be of wisdom, kindness, good humor and love.

God has taken another Great Person from us. I just wanted to let Fr Jerry know that, if it wasn't for your brother, I would not be writing this. He saved me from the hell I was living in and let me know that I was worth it. TRULY A GODSEND.

Fr. Tivy indtituted the first teen club for us @ St. Lambert's when I was in 7th grade.

In sympathy for the family of Fr. Thomas Tivy, my condolences to pur St. Lambert Assoc. Pastor, Fr. Thomas Tovy, may you rest in etermal peace.

Fr Tivy was a wonderful man who was more than willing to deal with " the Skokie Boys " in the mid 1960´s . Gus , Steve , Jack , Schreibs , Tommy & Faz all benefitted from having known this man . He was always ready to engage us , as well as our parents . He really knew the neighborhood & all who lived there . Oftentimes he was aware of our escapades & he was a fixture in the St Lambert community . This man was a priest that we could relate to and he will be missed . All the guys eventually left the area to strike out on our own . He was one of those men who left his mark on a bunch of developing teens . As the years went by , he was never forgotten . I was so happy that he was able to baptize my daughter 36 years ago when my family flew in from California. RIP Fr Tivy , you were the man .

Father Tivy was a wonderful priest who served at several parishes.. I especially remember him because he was at St. Gregory the Greats Parish and often my sons remarked how much Father Tivy cared about the teenagers and always had time to talk to them. He preformed the marriage ofmy sonTony and Mary Beth Maher. Father Tivy traveled to Florida on several trips and was a good friend of Joan and Marty Maher.
