Dear Family of Mr. Teraji,
I was very sorry to hear of his passing. I was a student of his at Ray School. I had him for a gym teacher and then was fortunate enough to have him for 6A and 7B. He was a very wise and kind man. He was my favorite teacher and I have many fond memories I would like to share with you. I remember a trip to the Buddhist Temple in Hyde Park (I think). I remember that he recommended that I go to summer school since he wasn't allowed to have me skip a grade. I did and that allowed me to be a June graduate instead of Jan. He was very smart to recommend that. But my favorite memory is on the last day of school in 1956, we were going on a class picnic. I did not have my permission slip in. He tried to call my mother but the line was busy. He drove me to my apartment so I could have my mother sign it so I could go. I often think of his kindness in doing that and that memory influenced me during my teaching career. I taught in the suburbs for 27 years before retiring. I hope that sharing these fond memories will help you to deal with your sorrow and loss. You were blessed to have him as a loving father and husband as I was blessed to have him for a teacher.
