Red and I were shipmates and sailed together the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans on the USS Sterret (CG-31) out of Subic Bay, Philippines. We also toured together at Navy Recruiting District Chicago and tipped more than our share of beers together over the years. I miss him calling me at 2AM to tell me how much the CUBS suck! There was no better SOX fan!

Unfortunately I was in Mexico when the service was held. Tommy was one of my closest friends growing up. Countless hours spent playing in Dawes Park. I remember Tommy being one of the best basketball players I ever saw. I remember him even shoveling snow off the courts to practice. He also had a great sense of humor. He could always make me laugh.

My prayers and condolences to the entire Spatz Family. Tom was a teammate of mine back in our St. Rita days.
