Thomas Ryan Obituary
Thomas L. Ryan III "Mickey", passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, the morning of September the 15th, 2022. Mickey was born May 4th, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. Currently, he is a resident of Oak Brook, Illinois and Stuart, Florida. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mickey's exuberance and quiet generosity were his trademarks. He was an avid golfer and a fanatic of all things Notre Dame. Mickey is predeceased by his parents Patricia and Thomas Ryan, his first wife Regina "Gina" Coleman Ryan, his son Matthew, his sisters Joan and Susie, his brothers Richard "Dickie" and John "Jack". He is survived by his brother James Ryan (Kimberly), sister Kerry Ryan Harpenau (Richard) and his children Thomas Louis "T.L." (Lee); Michael (Linda); Beth Anne Ryan Wangelin (Thomas); Allison and Sean (Holly). Grandpa Mickey was a devoted grandfather to: Sean, Maeve, Paddy, Colin, Thomas, Mickey, Kathryn, Beatrice, Lizzie, Gina and Nico. Mickey is also survived by his wife of 24 years, Marie Grafft Ryan and her seven children: Jacqueline Whitelaw (Nevin), Jake Paschen (Eve), Marie DiPietro (Steve), the late J.B. Paschen, Jeanne Welch (Patrick), Jayme Marino (Pete) and Marney Orchard (Brian) and eighteen grandchildren Halle (Jack), Charlie, Lily, Jake, Ella, Margot, Kate, Jack W, Jack M, Ava, Patrick, Tess, Jane, Edie, Grady, Lucy, Chase and Danny). Mickey developed many strong friendships during his education at St. Barnabas, St. Ignatius, Notre Dame and New York University. Mickey was an active member and former president of Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook, Illinois. He was also a longstanding member of Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida. Visitation is Monday, September 19th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 South Grant Street, Hinsdale, Illinois. Family and friends are welcomed to a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 20th at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 306 West Fourth St., Hinsdale, Illinois. Interment Private.
