Thomas Potempa Obituary

Potempa, Thomas J. Age 49, late of Homer Glen, passed away peacefully, after a long courageous battle with cancer, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Palos Community Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Chicago, living in Homer Glen since 1996. Employed by ELKAY Manufacturing for over 5 years. Tom was an avid sports fan, and was also very active with his children and his family with all their activities. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Preceded in death by his mother, Maureen (Lynch) Potempa and his father-in-law, Richard Byers. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Pam (Byers); his children, Paige and Peyton; his father, LeRoy Potempa; sisters, Dawn Potempa and Tish (Shawn) Bird; mother-in-law, Grace (Robert) Meller; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Bob) Walker and brother-in-law, Rich (Sheila) Byers. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to be used according to their wishes would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel, 1105 E 9th St. (159th St.), Lockport with Deacon Rob Weierman, Officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following services, cremation rites will be respectfully addressed.
