Karen and Tim,
Maggie and I are deeply sorry for your loss. Tom was a good friend of mine, I will cherish his friendship forever. He always made me laugh and we could talk for hours and make it seem like minutes. He has touched more lives than we will ever know. We are sorry we lost contact with you over the years but you were always in our thoughts and prayers. If ever you need anything Karen, please give us a call.

Dear Karen and Tim,

We were so saddened by the news of Tom's passing. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

I was just thinking about your family and looking at dates to invite you and Tom over for the Christmas season.

Tom shall always be remembered in the Chisausky Family prayers, as will you and Tim as you struggle with the future.

May the Great Spirits of Tranquility, Serenity, Posterity, and Good Health watch over you and Tim all of your days!

Karen and Tim,

I was overwhelmed when I was told of Tom's passing. I consider him one of my best friends and had a lot of fun with him over the years. I am honored that I knew the family and was able to give Tom support when he needed it. He was one the best men I've ever been privileged to know.

My prayers are with you and Tim and I pray God brings him into the company of the saints there to enjoy the reward of a life well lived - an eternity with God.

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through hte mercy of God, rest in peace.

Dear Karen....our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We know somehow that our families are related although distantly. Tommy and his parents were always there for all of our family when they passed on. He had just promised Dad at my uncle and aunt's funerals that he would take care of him when it was his time....Dad used to deliver pizzas to Tommy and his friends when they lived on State Street above the funeral home....they talked about old times just last year...Tommy will be greatly missed. Please know that we will keep him and all of you in our prayers. God bless....the family of Bruno Opyd.

Our deepest sympathies to the Opyt family.

We worked with Tom on property tax issues since 1995.

We helped Tom control his real estate taxes when he owned Opyt Funeral Home. Tom referred us to many other businesses in Thornton Township.

When Tom was the President of the Riverdale Chamber he invited us out to speak on numerous occasions about property tax reform issues.

Tom loved being a member of the Piscateers. He was always concerned about the club's nonprofit status and cutting it's costs.

I spoke with him in August when he was quoted in the Chicago Tribune on his strong support for legislation to report car accidents caused by cell phone users. A tragic car accident claimed the life of his daughter Missy in 1995.

Tom loved and gave so much to the Dolton community and that community loved him too.

Now he's with Missy at peace.

My deepest condolences to the family. I, as I am sure everyone else, was totally shocked to hear of his passing. Tom, as did his parents, helped us get through the difficult times with the passing of loved ones over the years. I was fortunate to get to know Tom better during the services for my parents a few years back and stayed in email contact with him. I just wish I had gotten to know him better earlier...

My sincere condolences to the Opyt family at this most difficult hour. Tom was always willing to afford me his wisdom in the funeral service. Both as an intern and funeral director, I was always kept up to date on meetings and items of importance. Tom was always willing to share with me the benefit of his experience and I learned much from him. From the importance of a sincere handshake and compassion, to how to fold the "church truck" and then stand at attention, his words still are remembered and always will be.

Our hearts broke into pieces when my mom called with the awful news. Tommy’s passing has left us in a state of shock and disbelief, and we cannot imagine the devastation you must feel.
So many wonderful childhood memories have flooded my thoughts, including the years I made Tommy promise he would wait for me to grow up so I could marry him; what an early display of his vibrant personality. Tommy was persistently comical, charming & genuine; a man that stood by you when you needed someone.
Karen, you gave us incredible support & compassion when Carrie passed. We are so sorry for you & Tim, as for all of us who knew Tommy; however, we know our loss of him cannot compare with yours. Our entire family hopes the love we send to you & Tim now and always will help you through the most difficult days.
Love,
Shelley, Tony, Nick & Tony Jr.
