Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Tom. Although I never got to meet him in person, I spoke to him at least every Sunday night when I would call him to substitute for our school district. I always looked forward to his jovial voice greeting me with "Hey Miss Sue, Tom O'Hallaren here! Need any subs today?" He was always so excited to work with the children and I know the staff and students will miss him. He was a wonderful teacher.

I met Tom while shooting baskets at the Illinois Athletic Club. Being the same age and growing up in the same culture and humor we were able to exchange in-jokes and references to historical happenings, especially the Second World War. We frequently discussed sports, baseball, football and the commodity markets via the phone. I will miss those calls.

Tommy "O" has been a fixture for us at the National Restaurant Show for as long as I can remember. I always looked forward to his call reminding me to order him a badge so he could join us on the Show floor. He would cruise the exhibits and return just as some of us would be returning to our hotel. Tommy would act as chauffer-offering Chicago tidbits along the way. In our Hospitality Suite, Tommy "O" was the Norpac Suite Captain/Bartender allowing us sales types to work the room and really talk to customers. In many ways seeing Tommy "O" was the highlight of a May trip to Chicago. The NRA will not be the same. His presence will be sorely missed.
