Modjeski, Thomas B. "Bernie" age 66, late of Lockport, passed away suddenly Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in Chicago, living in Lemont for 28 years before moving to Lockport in 2006. Employed by Rubber, Inc. for 11 years. He was a U.S. Marine Vietnam Veteran. Preceded in death by his father Bernard (Alfreda), his mother Sophie (Niziol), sisters Pauline, Bernadine, Alice and Grace. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Jackie (Stepanek), his children, Tom and Jaime Modjeski, both of Lockport, grandchildren, Tomie Lynne and Jacquelynne, sisters Peggy Modjeski, Betty (Don) Tiffany and Debi Modjeski, several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, family request memorials to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated. Per Thomas' wishes, cremation rite will be accorded. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 7:30 pm in the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1105 E. 9TH ST. (159th ST.), LOCKPORT, with Fr. Thomson Panakal officiating. Visitation Thursday, 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. O'Neil Funeral Home, Lockport 815-838-5010.

My sympathy to your family on your loss. I never met bernie but spoke with him many times through Rubber Inc. and know from those times he was a "CLASS ACT". He will be missed and your family will be in our prayers

My prayers go out to the Modjeski Family. I only knew Bernie for a short period of time. He always helped me when I needed it. He was very knowledgable and professional in his work. He will be sorely missed.
God will have a special place for Bernie, in Heaven.

Dear Friends--I felt like I knew Tom since I have been friends with Debi (and Peg) since 1970. I know how beloved he was to his family.
