I want to say my prayers are with Nana, my mom, dad, my sister, brother aunts, uncles, cousins, and everyone else who loved my papa. There are one hundred thoughts going through my mind all the time now. Mostly what could I say of a great man like my Papa. He taught me so much growing up. He would sit in my backyard with my brother crushing cans. When I was younger I can still remember watching movies with him eating waffles with cherries on top. The memories I have of Papa are unlike my sister. She remembers Papa as sick and weak. I remember him as strong and healthy. He had inspired me to succeed. When I was seven he went in the hospital and I started being afraid of something happening to him while I was at their house, but I loved going to Nana and Papa's. By the time I was ten I was really afraid that I would go over but not spend the night. Sure I would blame it on cable but I was truly afraid or him dying. Now as I look back on the time I spent at his house it was some of the best times that I have ever had. Papa was my favorite person in the world. When I was younger he told me that I should be a teacher. Writing this right now is so surreal to me I have not truly experienced the shock yet. I have been preparing myself for this shock for a while. The night he died I felt sick I could not sleep. I knew something was wrong then the phone rang. My biggest fear had finally come true. Throughout his life he began forgetting things but when he would remember me as his little angel it was wonderful even for a second I had my Papa back. At Christmas this past year I spent sometime talking to Papa. He was back to his normal self he said Angel I don’t know why this is happening to me. I sat and held his hand and he was as strong as always laughing that he could still hurt me. When I was younger I wrote a paper about Papa about him having an angel to watch over him. Now he’s my angel that watches over me and I will always be his angel baby. Papa I am going to miss you more than anyone will ever know, but I guess I have been missing you since you started forgetting things. At least now, in heaven you’ll be able to remember things. Keep watching over us especially Nana she misses you so much. You’re at rest now be at peace.

Love Courtney

Celebrate his memory and remember him in these days of mourning and tending to your family loss. 42 years with Illinois Tool Work is just about the longest career with one company that I have ever run across.
