I found this news today. I first knew Tom when he was in 2nd grade. We would play softball under the L tracks between 21st and Cullerton. Tom was always a friendly and honest guy. It was a pleasure to know him even if I had not seen him since we were teens.

Tom,

The VMFA-333 Reunion in Hawaii is less than 30 days out and we know how much you wanted to attend. Your name will be added to the Crow's Nest along with our most recent dearly departed Shamrock Lonnie Poling. We know you both will be with us in spirit as we ride down the streets of Honolulu during the St. Patrick's Day Parade. God Bless you and know we will honor you at the reunion.

My sincerest sympathy to the Lyewski family. You are all in my prayers that God may continue to help you find peace.

I served with Tim (a fellow Shamrock) in the late 70's. I am proud to have had the experience of knowing Tom. Some day we shall meet again. Until then rest peacefully my friend and brother.

So sad to hear that an old friend and comrade at arms has passed. even sadder is the tender age, when most of us are looking at enjoying the fruits of our labors that the man up stairs calls him home.

My condolences to the family and friends. Tom was a a great guy when I know him in the Marines and I am sure that he continued that tradition after we parted ways.

Semper FI Marine.

I was in the Marines with Tom in the late 1970's. Tom and I came from similar backrounds so we bonded. He was a Chicago boy as was I which was our first connection.
After the Marines we lost touch but we did connect about 15 after the Marines. I thank Tom for making that happen.
He was a good man, a good person and a Good Marine that I will always remember.

I served with Tom in the Marine Corps and remember him as always smiling and ready to lend a hand. In this world there are givers and takers....Ski was a giver and one of the good guys. Rest in peace, Ski. Semper Fi.

I am so sorry to hear about Tom's passing. He was an outstanding U.S. Marine who proudly served with the "World's Famous Fighting Shamrock's" (VMFA-333) in Beaufort, S.C. I know how much he wanted to make our next reunion. Even though he will not make it in person I'm sure his spirit will be with us and we will honor him as a dedicated Marine and Shamrock!

Dear Lyewski Family,
I just learned the sad news of Tom's passing. We worked with Tom at ABC for many parades over the years. He was a wonderful person! Truly a 'gentle giant' with a caring spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss.

To the Lyewski family.

I just learned of Tom's death. I have been dealing with him for years through ABC Parade Floats and found him to be a terrific man.

What a terrible loss! Life is not fair.

Tom was always so supportive of my theater work, especially the nun comedy, Late Nite Catechism. He would laugh at all the nun stories we shared.

In fact, I had just spoken to him about my new show, Sunday School Cinema, and sent him a certificate to come see the show. I was looking forward to hearing his comments.

I will always remember that gentle laugh.

Please accept my condolences and know that Tom's memory will live on. He is too big a guy to be forgotten!

I consider myself blessed to have known Tom(ato). You couldn't know a nicer, more caring man. I'll miss his humor, laughter and conversations, but will always hold my memories dear.

I will miss my life long friend Tom. I have known Tom since we were pre-teens. We went to school together, served in the Marine Corps together and continued to keep in touch all these years. I remember Tom always getting in trouble while we attended boot camp in San Diego and when he got drunk ay my wedding over 26 years ago. He was a loyal friend who will be truly missed. God bless you Tom.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Tom was one of the nicest people someone could meet. I'm glad our paths crossed. It’s a shame the good ones always go before their time. Big T will always be in our memories and will be greatly missed, especially on Fridays
