Thomas James Keifer, Age 77, Navy Veteran, beloved husband of the late Maryann Keifer (nee McTeague); devoted father of Christine (Jim) Andrews; dearest grandfather of Cory and Cole Johnson; beloved son of the late Charles and Frances (nee Butler) Keifer; loving brother of John (Ellen) Keifer, Kathryn (Rae Ellen Sena) Keifer the late William (Yvonne) Keifer and Joseph (Gina) Keifer; loving brother-in-law of Jeanne McTeague, James (Randi) McTeague, Marilyn (Terry) Reed, Rosemary (Christopher) Grant, Peggy (Peter) Kiron, Michael (Lin) McTeague, Carol (Joseph) Ricken and John (the late Maureen) McTeague; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Thomas was an enlisted Naval Communication Technician with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a graduate of Northern Illinois University, a senior accountant at Metra Commuter Rail until retirement. As a lover of music (especially Irish music in his later years), he was a strong supporter of many traditional Irish bands. Both he and his wife (Maryann Keifer) loved trips to Ireland and ventures across the United States to attend the bands performances at festivals. Family and friends will be meeting Monday July 31, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Julie Billiart Church 7399 West 159th St Tinley Park, Il 60477 for Mass of Christian Burial. The burial to follow the next day and will be for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children's Research Foundation, P.O. Box 205, Clarendon Hill, IL 60514.
