Thomas J. Hassel, age 87, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Beloved husband for 64 years to the late Charlene F. Hassel, nee Drogosz (November 7, 2021) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 23, 2021. Loving father of Karen, Ken (Chriss), and Dianne (Jim) Hensel. Cherished grandfather of William, Andrew, and Daniel Hensel; Rebecca and Thomas Hassel. Dear brother of the late Joseph (Susan) Hassel. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his faithful canine companions Seymour and Meg. Tom worked for the Village of Orland Park for 42 years. First serving as the Building Commissioner followed by working in the Code Enforcement Department. He was a passionate Chicago Bears fan. He loved fishing--especially at Lake Thunderbird in Putnam, IL. Tom was very active in Orland Youth Association Sports programs and the Orland Park Kiwanis. He thoroughly enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren's activities. Services will be private followed by an Interment with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in the Spring of 2022.
