To the Barry family,

I had the privilege of speaking with Tom daily by phone and over the course of that year never once heard a negative word or tone from him. He was easily the friendliest and most honest person I've ever dealt with in the industry. Our deepest condolences to the Barrys and to the trading community.

The Barry family...

A friendship of too many years to remember...too many memories to count...too much love to measure...but too few years to share.

We love you all!

To the Barry family

I got the terrible news yesterday from John Kokolus at Rand. I was a customer of Tom's when he was on the floor with Rand. I've traded futures since the '70s and without question Tom was the best guy I ever talked to on the floor. Smart, professional, fun, you name it. Tom was the best, a great guy. We've all lost a terrific friend. Our deepest sympathies to the family. Best regards, Buzz Bartholomew

Sarah,

Mark called me this morning to tell me about Tom. I was so shocked and saddened at the news. You and Tom always seemed to be one of those rare couples who are first and foremost best friends. During the difficult days ahead, I hope that you will look back on all of the joy and love that the two of you shared and realize what a great gift it was.

I want to share one bit of advice with you that I have received from a co-worker whose son died very suddenly and tragically almost exactly one year ago. Don't let anyone tell you that grief has a timetable, and that if you don't adhere to it, you aren't functioning properly. Work through it in your own time, allowing friends and family to carry you through when you feel like you don't have the strength to go on. You are a strong, loving person, and I know you will get through this.

You and the kids are in our prayers. If you ever need to get away, come on down to Cincinnati for a visit. We'd love to see you. Feel free to call or write at any time.

Love,

Mary Anne

Dear Sara, Paul and Kelsey,

Our family would like you to know that we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. We were saddened and shocked to hear of your loss. I was with Tom Monday night at the softball draft and he was happy and excited about the coming summer and his softball team. It seems like every time I saw him over the past years, he was either with one of his children or he was doing something that involved his children. He was a wonderful person and I know how deeply you will all miss him. I wish there was something we could do to ease your pain; I hope knowing that there are so many people who care about you will give you some comfort. Megan is very concerned about Kelsey and will probably stop by and visit her in the coming days. Until then we will keep you in our prayers. Marty, Cindy, Matt, Mandy and Megan Pembroke
