Thomas Anhalt Obituary

Anhalt, Thomas George age 72, formerly of Chicago, IL, late of Eva, TN, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, at West Baptist Hospital, in Paducah, KY. Born June 10, 1932, in Chicago, to the late Eberhardt and Matilda (Kane) Anhalt. Retired from Belt Railroad of Chicago, IL, following 43 years of employment. He was one of the originators and the first President of the Lions Club of Homer Twp. Tom was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed collecting train memorabilia. Surviving are his wife, Viola (McCuan) Taylor-Anhalt, whom he married February 14, 1991, sons, Richard (Sandy) Anhalt of Cedar Lake, IN, Joseph (Linda) Anhalt of Camden, TN and David Anhalt of Elwood, daughter, Violet "Sandy" (Marshall) Hurst of Morris, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Anhalt, Donna Anhalt, Jim and Rose Anhalt all of Burbank and Ray and Josephine Anhalt of Frankfort, sister, Betty Creighton, of Lyndon, many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a grandson, Thomas L. Snyder, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Lorraine Anhalt, Anne Anhalt and Bob Anhalt and brother-in-law, Thomas Creighton. Funeral services will be held at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, LTD, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood, Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. The Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, LTD, 401 E. My heart is with all of you. My Uncle Tom was very special to me. I will miss our telephone conversations and the laughs we always had. I loved him very much.
