Mary Cain Obituary

Cain, Dr. Mary

Mary passed away unexpectedly after a medical emergency caused by complications from pneumonia.

She grew up in Des Plaines, Ill. and graduated from Loyola University of Chicago, followed by Loyola Dental School. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Maureen Cain and the late Robert Cain.

She is survived by her husband of almost 25 years, Fernando Ornelas Diaz, her cherished son Daniel Ornelas, 3 step children who reside in Leon, GTO Mexico: Fernando Ornelas Morales (Luve), Amalia Ornelas Gomez (Eric), and Elvira Ornelas Leon (Alejandro), as well as seven step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Martin Cain, Thomas Cain, and Donald Cain, and her sister Ann Cain.

She had six Aunts and Uncles: Kathleen Martin (the late Robert), the late Eileen Sweeney, the late Michael Sweeney (Darlene), Nancy Sweeney, Patricia Fisher, and the late Jeanne Jahrke (the late Edward), as well as numerous cousins.

She loved singing, theater, Diet Pepsi, and all types of music, especially Latin music, and, in particular, the singer Marc Anthony. She enjoyed travel, with Puerto Rico holding a special place in her heart. She will be remembered for her very generous nature and quick wit, and as a person who loved her family, her dedicated and devoted staff, her many loyal patients, and the numerous friends she made throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Misericordia Home, 6300 N, Ridge Av. Chicago, Il. 60660.
