Susan Barney Obituary

I knew Susie as a child. My mom (Bea Altman) was dear friends with Phyllis Slavin so Susie and I were childhood friends. I have fond memories of sleepovers as young kids. I now live in LA and a friend in Chicago gave this to me. I was so sorry to hear about her passing and extend my thoughts and prayers to the whole family as does my mom and sister.

I will forever remember Mrs.Barney. Whenever I looked at her closely all I saw was a smiling face of someone who would do anything for the ones she loved. She inspired me to do incredible things for the the thoughts that I felt dedicated to. I hope her passing wasn't painful and she will forever be missed. My deepest thought and sorries to her family. The world lost an incredible women and may there be many more who follow in her footsteps.

Time stood still just one week ago as we lost a truly amazing person. Mrs. Barney was our daughter's second grade teacher with Mrs. Hartstein. Pure delight every day. She will missed.

I am honored to have been included in your lives during the last days of Susie's life. The love which weaves you together as a family is an incredible testament of Susie's love for each of you. Susie's love and strength will forever sustain you.

Al, Ron, Larry... and the entire family... Susie and I were neighbors on Avers and rode the school bus together and played in our backyards when we were little girls. I have so many great childhood memories of her and her brothers. Many years later Susie was the teacher of one of my daughters. She is my daughters favorite teacher of all time............ I have such wonderful memories of her and am so sad to learn of her passing. My condolences and love to her family.

Both my children had Mrs. Barney and it was the very best experience ever. We are all heartbroken by her passing. Our condolences go out to all of her family.

My heart is broken hearing this news. She taught 2 of my daughters and we loved her. She was one of the most kind and caring teachers we have experienced. She brightened this world and will be missed. Our deepest condolences.

our sweet susie... you will be most fondly remembered and bitterly missed by your honeymoon friends. it seemed like yesterday we met on our way to mexico. As a couple you and mark were on a perpetual honeymoon of life. we are thinking of the barneys and share in the loss of a beautiful friend who had the most love in her spirit.

Though saddened by this loss for family and friends, I am heartened by fond memories of Susie as she worked with members of her school community. The respect she gave to others was reciprocated by those to her. Students, parents, and staff will remember this lady of grace.

My heart is filled with tremendous sadness on Susie's passing. Going back nearly 42 years when she welcomed me as a "little sister" and since that time as friend and colleague I have cherished our times together. She was a warm-hearted, caring woman who also possessed charm and class, wit and wonder, and made the world a better place for all who were by her. She will be deeply missed.

Friends are like balloons, you need to tie them to your heart or they will forever float away, Susie had always been tied to our heart and we followed her brave fight, we prayed for all of you. Susie was my daughter Jessie's pre-school teacher at the JCC about 24 years ago and she was the sweetest and always remembered us when we would see her. Our heartfelt condolences to the Barney Family.

Ron and Caryl, very sorry to hear of Susie's passing- I remember her from when she used to come to your cousin, Janet's birthday parties. She was too young to die. It is very hard to lose a sibling. Too many shared memories make it like losing a piece of yourself.
