Shalom

On behalf of the Davidson and Berman families, thank you all very much for coming.

Steve would hate this service today. He disliked funerals and he would never wish for us to mourn his passing. So I ask for you to honor Deebs and treasure his presence.

I am both honored and proud to be able to call Steve my best friend. We have known each other for almost 40 years and remain close today. We supported each other in sports, education and professional lives. I was honored to his best man and Steve even drove my Ana to our first Ultra-sound because I had to work. I’m sure Ana would tell you he was much more fun than I would have been that day. Steve even called me to let me know we were all having a girl. That was almost 17 years ago.

Deebs loved his family more than anything. He was so very proud of Tyler and Dylan. Whether in school, or baseball or bowling, Steve was the unabashful proud dad. His legacy lives bright in these boys.

Living in Chicago, we have witnessed gifted athletes, artists, musicians and intellects. Deebs was a gifted friend. So many family and friends here today can tell stories about Steve befriending them. Many will share stories later today that tell of loyalty and compassion and humor…almost all include laughter.
Many will share feelings of a best friend who was able to walk into a room and lift it up on his shoulders. Steve has an aura, a spirit about him that transcended gender or age or race. Steve was truly a Gifted Friend!

Steve married Sherri after a long plutonic friendship. Everyone told them to get just married already as they were always together. They tried to deny it but fate won. They were best friends forever. They are soul-mates forever.

In 5th grade, our teacher made us write an essay on “if I could live anywhere”… Kids read their stories aloud about adventures in Africa and moving poolside in Florida. Deebs read he wanted to always stay where he was, in Niles with his family and friends. Even then he knew home is where your heart is. Family and friends

Please close your eyes and think back to a funny moment with Deebs. Remember that infectious high pitch laugh or the Deebie shuffle or Steve doing the Chicken dance. Remember Deebs goosing you or playing one of the many many practical jokes he loved. Remember Steve as a gifted friend

Thank you

Steve is a kind, warm, generous and gracious soul. I send my deepest condolences to your family in this time and all points forward.

Shakespeare Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
William Shakespeare

Our hearts go out to the Davidson Family. Steven will be missed by all of us that were family friends and watched him grow up to a fine young man. We enjoyed his conversations and humor at Temple, Indian Guides, The Reiger's back yard, parties and picniks. I had the opurtunity to spend time with him when he worked with his dad, who loved him dearly.
With our love Howie, Toby, Lisa and Robert Glantz
