Steve and I became very good friends when we met while teaching at Westside High School in Gary, Indiana. I accompanied him home to Chicago on many a weekend during the 1976-1977 school year. We had many enjoyable times together, and I can truly say those days are some of the most enjoyable and memorable of my life. Although I had not seen Steve for many years, he would call me out of the blue every so often and we would have a pleasant conversation, almost as though those days gone by had returned, if only ever so briefly. I was stunned and saddened to learn of Steve's passing when his step-daughter contacted my wife via facebook several months after his death to inquire how she knew her step-father. Needless to say, I am very disappointed I did not know soon enough to attend his funeral. Rare are the people who truly make your life the rich tapestry it will become. He most certainly was one of those people, and I will cherish our time together and the friendship we had. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Steve was my friend, and will live in my memories all the days of my life.

Dear Marcia,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow and loss. We deeply regret the the passing of our 'good Dr. B'. The world has lost a brilliant podiatrist and a great human being. Several of our family members walk more comfortably because of Dr. B's great skill. He was great as a professional and as a friend. We will certainly miss him and his amazing ability and the compassion with which he served. He was, indeed, a man on a mission.

We were very sorry to hear of Dr. Beekil's sudden passing. Our son just became a patient of Dr. Beekil's and immediately grew to love his visits - Both Dr. Beekil and Marcia's warming hearts and hospitality is genuine and he will truly be missed by many and missed as a great physician. Marcia, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Dear Marcia
I would like to offer my condolenses to you at this time of your grief. I only had the pleasure of meeting your husband about 5 times but could tell you that when he spoke of you or too you he would get this boyish grin across his face that showed how much he cared about you. Dear Marcia,
We have never had the pleasure of meeting, but we volunteered with Dr Beekil at the Downtown Eastside Foot Clinic in Vancouver. He was a warm hearted and giving man who had many great ideas to help those less fortunate than himself. We were very sad to hear of his passing and wish to express our condolences to you and your family. We will miss him very much, as will all those people he helped in our community.
If there is any way we can help you in Vancouver, please do not hesitate to contact us. (Robert Rickey has our contact details)

Dear Marcia, Cindy and families,
I am very sad to hear of Dr. Beekil's passing. I am happy to have known him and recently been able to say hello again on Facebook. My feet have not been the same since he left Chicago. My late Uncle Paul thought the world of him too. Now they are together and Dr. Beekil can take care of him again!
May wonderful family memories comfort you in this time of loss.

Dear Marcia & family, I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. I knew Steven as member of our Rotary Club the year I was president. I was touched by his generosity and willingness to serve. Like other Rotarians who knew him I wish we had more time together. Peace to you and your family.
