Dear Tracey,
My deepest sympathy is with you and your family. I met you and Steve four years ago at a transplant fund-raiser. As a fellow liver transplant recipient, I swapped sugery and drug stories with Steve. We swam together in Columbus (on the game's first co-ed relay which he created). If it were not for Steve, I would still be trying to finish the 500 free. He is a wonderful man and an inspiration to many within the transplant community.
Best regards,
Moira

To the Wendt family,
I had some great times with Steve back in our Fenwick days. He was personaly responsible for many of my paddlings in Mr. T's Economics class. He was a great friend and an inspiration to many. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wendt, Beth, Charlie and Mary,
I have spent the last few days remembering about growing up with Steve and spending so many wonderful times with you all. My heart sank when I heard the news, and since then I have remembered so many awesome things about Steve -- Seger, Golf, Neutral Drops and Olympia Beer to name a few. I was so blessed to have him in my life, and I thank you for him.
With Love and Prayers,
Dave

I am a nurse at the University of Illinois Organ Transplant Unit and I took care of Steven after his liver and kidney transplants. He was always such a pleasant patient and will be greatly missed.

As a Hinsdale neighbor, grade school chum, and high school friend, I have countless memories of the great times horsing around while growing up with Steve. Thank you. As I turned 35 yesterday and heard of Steve's move to a better place, I realized how time passes quickly. As Fenwick taught us, "Carpe Diem." Steve sure did.
My sincere condolences go out to the Wendt family.
Sincerely,
Kevin Clark
