Stanley Szatkowski Obituary

Szatkowski, Stanley E. Age 82, passed away on September 15, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Sylvia (nee Kmieciak) Szatkowski. Son of late Edward and Mary Rose (nee Manikowski) Szatkowski. Born in Chicago on February 24, 1929, he lived his youthful years in the small village of Geneseo in the scenic Red River Valley of North Dakota. A four year U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a former member of the Headquarters Squadron, Tenth Air Force Northeast Air Command. Retired Superintendent of the Industrial Engineering Department of Electro-Motive Division of General Motors, LaGrange, Illinois. Graduate of Industrial Engineering College of Chicago with post graduate work at University of Illinois. Stanley helped build very big choo-choo trains, actually diesel locomotives, at General Motors. He was the loving father of Gary (Betty), James (Nancy), Kathy Gowgiel and Dr. Mary (Dr. Lawrence) Ozers. Grandfather of Austin, Jesse, Mercedes, Barbara, Matthew, Sarah, Mikayla, Jordan, Andrew and Elise. Survived by brothers John and Robert and many nieces and nephews including Susan, Lisa, Christine, Linda, Bruce, Brian, Dana, Todd, Kenneth, David and Michael. Preceded in death by sister Cecelia Loney and brothers Walter, Frank, Edward Jr. and baby James. Former member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves and W.S. MGMT Society, member of the North Dakota American Legion, St. Bede Holy Name Society and a fifty plus year parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church. Visitation Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Monday 11:00 a.m. from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 4950 West 79th Street, Burbank, IL. to St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church at 83rd Street and Kostner Avenue, Chicago, IL.
