Sollie, you worked on my car for years, and over that time I felt we became friends. I was delighted to be able to return the favor when I worked on Helen's piano a few short years ago. I just spent a year away in Kuwait with the Navy Reserve, and since coming back I have found that both you and Helen have passed on. I'm so sorry I didn't get to see you again and share my overseas stories, though they'll never compare with yours. I'll never forget you deciding to open up and share a few of those stories the day I brought my boys over while working on the piano. It was an honor to have you share those memories with us. I will always think fondly of you and Helen. Peace to you both.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and once landlord, Sollie Triffler. We called to wish him a happy birthday tonight and found out he had passed in August. He would have been 90 years-old yesterday. He turned 80 years-old the day after baby Hazel was brought home from the hospital. She was the only child to live in the two-flat since his own children. I'll never forget when he and his wife interviewed us for the apartment. "You don't have kids do ya?" "No! We don't intend to have any for a while," we replied. Little did we know Miss Hazel was already with us. That was a fun talk with them 2 months later...but he and his wife, Helen, ended up being overjoyed!! We rented from them for 5 1/2 years. We were family. Sollie was amazing and proof that if you use it - you don't lose it. He worked everyday up until a couple of years ago. Hlelen cooked a hot meal for him every night until she wasn't able to anymore. They were together for over 66 years. Bless you Sollie and Helen. Love, The Vandemarks

Emily, you well know how special your father was and I was so fortunate to have met him, if only briefly. I thank God for him and his service to our country. May he rest in peace as he receives his bountiful reward from his heavenly Father.
