Sol Greenberg Obituary

Greenberg, Sol Sol greenberg passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at home in Dallas, TX with loving family by his side. Sol was born in the Bronx, New York, on June 26, 1924, to Wolf and Esther Greenberg. Enlisted in the WWII 389th Bomb Group Army Air corps flying 27 missions over Germany a B-24 navigator. After honorable discharge from active duty, Sol joined the New York police department and retired after 20 years. Retired from the Air Force Reserves, as Lieutenant Colonel. Sol moved to Dallas in 1976. Began making blood donations, receiving a Lifetime Achievement award from Blood Care for the 39 gallons. He received his B.A in general studies from UTD. Sol was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Yetta and Murray Kirschner; and his nephew, Charles Kirschner. He is survived by Joyce Schneider Novin Greenberg, his devoted and adoring wife of almost 20 years; daughters Mindy Greenberg of Dallas, and Susan Schwartz Davis of Las Cruses, NM; and son, Scott Greenberg, Houston, TX. Debbi Kirschner Vice. Extended family members Lisa and Toby Harris of Plano, TX, and children Debra Goss and Brandon Harris; Lewis and Bobbie Novin of Little Elm, TX and children, Layla, Modesty and Benton Novin. Grave side services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225 at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Shiva/Minyan services will be held for 5 days beginning at 7:00 pm at the Greenberg home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the 389th Bomb Group Association through Kelsey McMillan at 1905 Avenue D, Katy, TX 77493-1658. For more information, please email [email protected].
