She was Aunt Shirley to me. Growing up, we (my parents, Sabra & Bernie Klein, & my sister, Ellyn & brother, Jeff) didn't spend all that much time with her and Uncle Nate because we did not live in Chicago, but the time we did spend with them was always special. My Dad, especially, loved the two of them very much. Shirley was definitely like a mother to my father. She and Nate took my father into their home where he became a member of the family and he had incredibly warm, spectacular memories of being with them.
We will miss Aunt Shirley dearly, but we know what a full, meaningful life she lived and she will forever have an impact on my family.
May her memory be a blessing.

Dear Rothner Family,
Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolences on your loss. Shirley, as well at Nath Rothner were two of the kindest most generous people I have ever had the pleasure to know. I am very fortunate to have had them as a part of my life.

What a wonderful amazing, loving, and wise woman. My late husband, myself, and my children always thought of Shirley as family and are sorry we weren't able to spend more time with her. Nate and Shirley took Bernie into their home and always considered him, and by extension us, as family. We will always miss them both.
