Scott Gitlis Obituary

Gitlis, Scott Michael born Oct. 12, 1953 in Chicago, IL, died suddenly on June 26, 2008 in Belleville, IL. He was a loving son to Gerald and the late Hinda Gitlis, devoted brother to Karyn (Philip Douglass), Mark (Jessica) and Daniel, and loving uncle to Zohar, Noah and Jaclyn, fond cousin to Michael (Margo) Rosenthal, Alan (Maria) Reynolds, Robert and Kim Gitlis and Fr. Simeon Gitlis, loving nephew to Lee and Fran Ross. Scott gladdened the hearts of family, friends and acquaintances with his gentle kindness, his sense of humor, and his sense of wonder. He had a zest for life and curiosity about people, places and history. He believed the future could, and would, be better. Scott, we know you are in a better place. We love you and miss you. You will always be in our hearts. We will gather to celebrate Scott's life on Aug. 2, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please contact [email protected] for location or to leave message. Donations in Scott's name may be made to: Gateway Foundation, 55 E. Jackson Blvd., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604.

Dear Karyn, Danny and Mark, I was saddened to hear of Scott's passing. I will always have good memories of Scott and you, his family. We all had a strong connection and, in many ways, still do. Scott is as free as a bird now and soaring, unbound, towards the light. And Sonny, I believe, you are soaring with him. All my love, Bernadette
