McHale, Sarah Cunniffe

Sarah Cunniffe McHale 80 of Glen Ellyn died Thursday January 28. 2021, at the home of her youngest child Mary of Covid 19. She was born May 20, 1940, to John and Mary McAndrew of Curradrish Ireland. Sarah grew up on a farm where she learned to work very hard. After coming to Chicago in 1958, she learned to be a beautician from an aunt. Her first marriage was in 1965 and became a homemaker. Later she had careers as a waitress, food service supervisor a CNA and a nurse. She married her present husband in1990 and started college courses part time. she was pursuing her lifetime dream of being a nurse. Sarah graduated from Triton college in 1997, age 57, the oldest in her class with a B+ average. She is survived by her husband Joseph McHale, four children Patricia (Kevin} Snyder of Naperville, Thomas Cunniffe of DeKalb, Patrick Cunniffe (Peggy) of Middleton Wis., and Mary (John) McManus of Glen Ellyn; nine grandchildren; a sister Gerie Garvey of Galway Ireland; seven nephews, five nieces, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. A funeral Mass of Christian rememberance will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM, ST. Mary of the Woods Church Chicago IL.
