Gitler, Sarah Lillian (nee Emmerman), age 96, beloved wife of the late Arthur Gitler, cherished daughter of the late Louis and Kate Emmerman, devoted mother of Barbara (the late Morton) Goldsmith and Marvin (Lois) Gitler, loving grandmother of Dayna Mueller, Lon (Karyn) Gitler, Marni (Tim) Myers, Marc Goldsmith, Lesley (David) Nemzoff, proud great-grandmother of Blake, Brett, Ally and Lexi Gitler, Casey Myers, Mason and Clara Nemzoff, dear sister of the late Harry (Ann) Morris, Sam, Jack, Paul and Sol Emmerman, fond sister-in-law of Anne, Mildred and Dorothy Emmerman, cherished aunt of her nieces and nephews. Matriarch of the family, a good friend to many. Services Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., at Westlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, 7801 W. Montrose Avenue, Norridge. The words in the death notice said "Matriarch of the family," and what a grand family she created. Her life enriched the earth, and her memory is a blessing. We will thank God for her long life at the Police Mass on Sunday, and we will pray for you as you adjust to an empty spot in the world now.
