Zelen, Samuel G. age 72, of Lincolnshire formerly of Northbrook. Retired Vice President with Merrill Lynch; beloved husband for 44 years of Sandra nee Factor; loving father of Wynne (David) Baruch, Larry (Stefanie) and Alison (Noel) Pearlman; adored Grandpa Sam of Rudi, Abby, Jack, Aliza, Jessica and Seth; cherished brother of Bernice Zelen Schimmel and the late Anita Zelen Shipley; devoted son of the late Julius and Betty; dear brother-in-law of Hy (Ceil) and Sheldon (Kayla) Factor; treasured uncle and great uncle of many. Services were held Tuesday, at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 blk N. of Lake Cook Rd.). Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Proud Nebraska Cornhusker, member of Sigma Alpha Mu, and a Northbrook Rotarian. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Congregation Beth Shalom, 3433 Walters Ave, Northbrook, IL 60062 or Northbrook Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 283, Northbrook, IL 60065. I am sorry to hear about his passing. Sam took good care of our family's finances for two generations. The good works of his professional life continue to live on my family's security, and in the gifts he gave to his son Larry that we continue to enjoy into the third generation.
