Dearest Andrea and family,

My deepest sympathy to you all on the passing on Sal's passing. Sal and I began a wonderful friendship over 35 years ago, at the old Chicago Stadium. Two hockey fans had a beer (Sal bought...)and started to chat, and quickly came to learn our Dad's had grown up together on Polk Street. Every Wednesday and Sunday we had great times, ate too much at Tufano's or Gene & Georgetti's, and shared a few sunny days in Rome over the years. We commiserated about the Blackhawks during many lean years, Sal offering his coaching advice to anyone team member that would listen! I thank God we had those days together.

I always admired him and know I was blessed to have him as a friend. Andrea, I pray you and the entire family take comfort in knowing what a wonderful husband, father, and doting son he was and how much he loved you all.

Riposare in pace,Salvatore

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Ferrara family. Will always tell the story of how generous Sal was when I would go to the factory and ask the receptionist if he was available. Then all of a sudden I would hear this voice ". . ask him what he wants, Hawks tickets or a job . ." He was so giving to me and I'll never forget that. A great family to have in the neighborhood.

To Andrea and all. The entire Ferrara family has been such a huge part of our lives for decades. So much sorrow but also great joy seeing Sal's wonderful smile with Lauren's children. He is an example to us all to get out there and live everyday to the fullest. He always did. Expected 110% from everybody while never adding less than 120% himself.

Mine will be a memory. This man was a character and he loved to accenuate his Italian side. He was smart, funny, sometimes ribald, a leader, a decision maker and one of a kind. Sal Ferrara II, one of the smartest businessmen I have ever met, one of the most generous friends I have ever had and the very definition of "a family man". He was the epitome of leadership and had the utmost appreciation and respect for the employees who dedicated their lives to the Ferrara Pan Candy Company. I will forever compare future employers to Sal and they will all come up short. People at tables around the world gave thanks on Thursday for the opportunity of having known him. To his family and friends, know that you only need to close your eyes to see him with you always. I will miss him dearly.

There will never be another....our factory mourns your loss.

Deepest Sympathy to Andrea and all of your family at this most difficult time.
I had known the beautiful Mrs. Serafina Ferrara from the times I had gone into the bakery on Taylor Street near Leavitt Street, and Salvatore's beautiful mother as well and now Nella and Serajean who have been an equal example of Christ in faith and charity. Salvatore's integrity, faith, and charity had to be the same as I learned from condolences sent.
I love all of you because you are living examples, of genuine faith, hope, and charity/love with integrity and yes, Salvatore, too, for he now lives in the arms of our Saviour Christ Jesus,
God bless you in your faith with the hope you have in the promises of our Lord, for we shall all meet again sharing your love for each other in the perfect love that casts out fear.
