Salvador Gamboa Obituary

Gamboa, Salvador "Sal" Age 88, late of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2017. Born in Topeka, KS, he spent most of his adult life in Chicago's South Chicago neighborhood. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eloise (nee Bermejo) for 68 years; his loving children, the late Robert (Anne) Gamboa, Raymond (Joan) Gamboa, daughter Julia Ann (Francisco) Lopez, Richard (Nelly) Gamboa, Michael (Olga) Gamboa and Salvador (Janine) Gamboa; as well as 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia; his brothers, Emanuel Gamboa, Ruben Gamboa, Rudolph Gamboa; and sister, Carmen Liss. Salvador was a veteran in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, and a retired employee of Lever Brothers Company. In his youth he was a Golden Gloves Finalist and remained a boxing enthusiast. Later he became an avid bowler, chess player, golfer, a loyal Chicago Bears fan, learned to love The Beatles, loved to swim at Mann Park and remained a serious Frank Sinatra and Luis Miguel fan. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3200 E 91st St., Chicago, IL 60617.
