Ruth E. Poloncic went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2007 at the age of 85 at her daughter's home in Goode, Va., where she had resided since September of 2002. Born in Archbald, Pa., on January 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Mary Dakey. Her devoted husband, Frank Poloncic preceded her in death on May 8, 2004. They were married on April 20, 1943 and were together for 61 years. Ruth and Frank operated Dakey's Cabinland and farm on Rte. 6, Steene, with her brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Marge Dakey for 13 years. After selling the business, they moved to Johnson City, N.Y., where they resided for 17 years, and was employed by Cadre Corp. in Endwell, N.Y. Ruth and Frank returned to Steene upon retiring to be close to family. Upon leaving Steene, they later resided in Forest City from 1997 to 2002. In 2002, they moved to Virginia to live with their daughter and son-in-law. Ruth's greatest joy in life were loving and taking care of her family, bowling, dancing, playing cards, gardening, doing crafts, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert and his wife, Theresa, Vestal, N.Y.; her daughter, Marlene Evans and her husband, Robert, Goode, Va.; her sister, Jean Anderson, Plant City, Fla.; her brother, Willard Dakey and his wife, Marge, Steen, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Gladys Sever, Forest City, Pa.; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime friends that she made throughout the years. To know Ruth was truly to know a very special person.
Crematory arrangements were handled in Virginia on August 8th. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City, Pa., on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 12:30. There will be a luncheon following the service for family and friends at the Beacon Restaurant on Rt. 171, Union Dale.
