Roy Hockman Obituary
Mr. Hockman was born, October 8, 1915, in Bartonsville, Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Lawson L. and Catherine Crisman Hockman. Mr. Hockman was a resident Hotel Manager at Eden Rock Hotel in Miami, Florida. Mr. Hockman was President of the Southwest Hotel Greeters of America. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Winchester, Virginia, where he was an Elder Emeritus and Superintendent of the Sunday School. Mr. Hockman was a Graduate of Lynchburg College class of 1940, and Student Body President. Mr. Hockman delivered Meals on Wheels for fifteen years to local residents. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the Signal Corp in the Middle East and European Theatres with the United States Army.
He is survived by four nieces and ten nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at First Christian Church, Winchester, Virginia, with the Reverend Alan Gray, Reverend Dr. Clement A. Sydnor III, and Chaplain Elizabeth Lewis officiating. Interment will be in private in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Ray Blosser Sunday School Class.
Honorary Pallbearers will be J. Peyton Darlington, Jerry A Tolley and Robert L. Whitacre.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
