Rowland Cahan Obituary
Rowland Cahan of Chicago, IL (Wilmette), a larger-than-life personality who exhibited compassion, respect, and humor throughout his 91 years, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021. A loving, generous and supportive family man, Ron was a tireless advocate to his wife, Daina (Kalnajs) of 60 years this March and loving children Marla (Jeff) Garlin, Lisa (Lee) Davis, and Mark (Holly) Cahan; grandchildren, James and Duke Garlin, and Jason Cahan; brother-and-sister-in-law Reinis and Gail Kalnajs, and nephews and nieces. Ron was born in Chicago to James and Bertha (Mautner) Cahan and had two brothers, Marvin and Herbert, who predeceased him. As a Korean War veteran, he proudly served his country on the front lines. He was the president and owner of Advance Builders for over 60 years, where his customers warmly referred to him as "Mr. Ron." Private family funeral services will be held.
