Dear Mary Lou,

It was with the deepest of sadness that I received your note on the passing of your Mom, Rosemary.

My mother, Evelyn Valin, was an early resident of the original Shelter. This is where I first met Rosemary, and it was an privilige and honor to know her. I will never forget my Mom telling me of Rosemary's plans of a shelter for the disabled. When I found out that she was a 70 year old retiree, I wouldn't have bet a dollar that she would have succeeded. How wonderful it is that she proved me wrong.

From my Mom, Evelyn, and the entire Valin family, we extend to you our deepest sympathies in your loss. But Rosemary did leave behind a mountain of great memories in her footsteps. I will never forget her.

Rosemary entered my life 33 years ago, shortly before founding her Shelter of God's Love. Her son and my husband were friends from childhood. We never know just why certain things occur in our lives, but Rosemary was given to me for a reason. She helped me look to see who I was and who I was becoming. I'm just one of the countless others whose lives were deeply touched by this tiny dynamo. She knew how to strike right where you live, and how to show you that you were important to her, and to the world. I hope she knows how much I treasure each moment I had the pleasure of spending with her. Rosemary is a gift I will never forget.

Rosemary was a very special woman with a gift of hospitality. I met her by accident at the Shelter of God's Love many years ago. She radiated the presence of God to all those at the Shelter. She has always been an inspiration to me.

Grandma Koenig,

I am going to miss my Grams very very much. Grams gave our family a very special gift, it was a book about her life and the years she spent with her family and friends. She touch so many lives and shared her love in many ways including her special monthly newsletters. I am so honored that she was part of my life. We will always love and miss our Grams.

Rosemary Koenig is truly a woman who has left her mark on the world as well as upon so many individuals. My family's connections with Rosemary extend as far back as when her father delivered my mother, her childhood friendship with my aunt, Dorothy Williams Traynor, her bringing my family into her involvement with Shelter of God's Love I and II, and her serving as "counselor" to my mother as she dealt with chronic pain and suffering prior to her death in the 1980's. Rosemary was a remarkable woman who truly made a significant difference in the lives of so many. My deepest sympathies to each member of her family.
