Rosemary Drake Obituary

Drake, Rosemary (nee Graham) Left us too soon, following a recent stroke. She will be missed terribly but lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Teri (Frank) Sellars, Bill (Mary) Baum and Michael (Tobin) Baum; as well as by her six wonderful grandchildren, Cecilia, Rose, Robbie, Diane, Kristian and Collette. Rosemary grew up in Chicago and graduated at the top of her class from Alvernia High School in 1958, where she was a top performer on the debate team. She went on to Mundelein College but left to marry her first husband, the late Richard James Baum, Sr., and to raise her three beloved children. Rosemary later married and was widowed by Fred Fix and George Drake. She began her successful real estate career at Gladstone Realty in 1974, and did an amazing job juggling the incredible demands of single parenthood and work. She continued in real estate off and on until her retirement from Koenig & Strey Lake Forest in 2009. Rosemary will be remembered as a committed, devoted mother, and a kind, generous family member, neighbor and friend. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Monday, December 23, 9:15 a.m. from Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Boulevard at Old Orchard Road, Skokie, IL 60077 to St. Paul of the Cross Church, 320 South Washington Street, Park Ridge, IL 60068, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 11 South LaSalle Street, Suite 1800, Chicago, IL 60603. Info: 847-675-1990 or www.donnellanfuneral.com.

So sorry to hear of Rosemary's death. I have very fond memories of working with her at Koenig & Strey and socializing with her, as well. We had a group of Ladies that would get together for dinner periodically, and Rosemary took her turn at her Laurel Ave. condo, preparing a fabulous meal. She had a wonderful sense of humor and truly enjoyed life. We all admired her!
