My Condolences to the Black Family. I know it´s been a while since she passed but I just seen this.
Just happened to be online looking up The old club The High Chaparral on 79th stony island. Because my mom Paula use to model there when I was a kid in her Bullet belts and cat suits. Can´t remember anyone but Dave .
This just took me back in time.
And seen this. During my 20s I seen Ms. Black all the time walking down 79th street. I liked her coordination of outfits and how she would have everything to match. And she could wear some heels. She always was dressed. I always wondered where she was going on 79th street. But was happy to always see her and her new outfits.
I figured she made them because they were unique and looked customized. I use to be like she should have a fashion line, because she seem to have been very creative. I´m like she must have a big house to store all those fashionable clothes and accessories. I´m happy to know that she was still doing her thing all these years. And left a legendary mark on the east side of Chicago´s 79th st. Of Stony Island. Rest in Peace Queen

I remember working as a waitress at Scampis restaurant in the Hyatt Regency on Wacker Drive Downtown Chicago in the early 1980´s and Rosie would come in to dine, her outfits were stunning and everyone would be looking at her and she loved it, she came there on a regular basis and was always very nice.

I was accustomed to seeing Ms. Rosemarie Black around the Stony Island area in my
youth. Once, I was able to park my car and catch- up with Ms. Rosemarie.
I found Ms. Rosemarie to be very open and friendly; I had many questions that I asked while we walked together.
I told her that I wanted my then teenage daughter to meet her, Ms. Rosemarie immediately invited me to bring my daughter to the White Castles
on 79th. and Stony... I promised that I would but never did... My loss...
Truly a Chicago legend in her own time.

It's amazing....my husband and I were just saying we wondered what ever happened to the "Big Hat Lady" from Stoney Island. I searched for her on Bing, and we read about her incredible life. This just demonstrates that everyone has a story. She was definitely an icon of the South side...the Collins family would like to extend our deepest condolences to her family. I'll bet it was something when she sexy-strolled into the afterlife! :-) RIP Rosemarie Black...

I recall seeing Mrs. Rose a few years ago on the 4th of July.
She had a beautiful big hat with the American flag and the outfit to match.
She had a beautiful body and everyone would stop and stare, and beep their horns.
But what I remember most of all was her beautiful smile and confidence.
R.i.p Ms. Rose

I use to see her everyday almost on the #3 King Dr bus coming home from school. My grandparents owned businesses and they actually knew her coming in and they were big race track supporters as well. I use to look for her so I can sit across from her on the bus, just to stare at her figure. And boy did she have a nice shape! You left impressions on many here in Chicago without saying a word. POWERFUL! RIP Ms Black with all due respect! I salute you!

I would see her walking on Stony Island in her brilliant outfits when I lived near there. I used to think she was a really strange person, but the strange people were the ones who made fun of her. THEY are called "haters"!!! Such a classy lady in her spike heeled pumps. I'm no longer in Chicago but I wondered what had happened to her these last few years. I wish my granddaughter had been able to meet her. I'll think of her whenever I visit 79th and Stony Island.

I am very saddened to learn that RoseMarie has passed away. I knew her for more than 30 years, she came into my store in the loop for decades. Everyone loved her, there was not a mean bone in her body. She was nice to everyone. Her style was indeed "outgoing" and that added to her personal charm. She made the world a better and happier place, she will be missed but never forgotten.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family.
This lady was phenomenal. I remember seeing her as a teenager growing up on 79th on my way to high school (Unity Catholic in 1983- 1986), smiling, wearing the cute short skirts with her heels on and sharing her thoughts and wisdom with everyone she came across.
Even after I grew up in my adult like she was able to share some wisdom with my daughter who was then a teenager at the New White Castle.
May God be with you and your family during this time.

I, met this lovely lady and namesake one sunny afternoon 15 years ago in "Rose's Hat Shop" on 79th & Michigan. After discovering we shared the same first name we immediately bonded. Afterwards, whenever I ran into her going down 79th, I would stop traffic to lean out my window to give a "shout out to one of the most beautiful person's I have ever had the privilege to know. Rest in Peace Beautiful Lady...I'll see you when I get there.
Respectfully,
Rosemarie
